End Period Poverty event

Ashlee Chadwick, manpower member and union rep in Portadown organised an event in his local area last month to highlight period poverty. Items requested for donation before Christmas were sanitary items like soap, sanitary towels, tampons, Deodorants, Shampoo and similar.

Plan International UK says that 1 in 10 girls can’t afford to buy menstrual products.

Over 137,700 girls have missed school because of period poverty in the UK

Menstrual products cost more than £18,000 over a woman’s lifetime

68,000 women in the UK are currently homeless with little or no sanitary access

We’d like to say a big thanks thanks to Ashlee and to all of the members in Portadown who contributed to his efforts to gather donations for the the Craigavon Area Foodbank and the #ENDPERIODPOVERTY Campaign
