Young Workers Conference Report 2025
Nov 21, 2025
The CWU Young Workers Conference took place recently over 4th and 5th November in Manchester.
You can view the Agenda Pad for this via 2025-YOUNG-WORKERS-CONFERENCE-AGENDA.pdf
Klaudia Sierakowska - our Branch Young Worker attended. There were many interesting and relevant motions discussed over the Conference.
One motion, touched on sensitive subject which is feminine sickness leave for menstrual pains which passed. This is a very important matter for our female members.
Klaudia moved the Northern Ireland Telecoms motion (Motion 4) which called on the National Young Workers Committee to work with the Telecoms Financial Services Executive (TFSE) to negotiate with BT Group to align the EE attendance policy with the BT Group Workforce 2020 contract regarding company sick pay entitlement. The motion was passed and will now be presented at General Conference in May 2026.
The Conference was also a good opportunity to socialise with other young workers and share experience within the role across different Branches. Klaudia would encourage any young worker (aged 30 or below) if interested in events like this or becoming more active within their union – to reach out to their Branch at cwunitb@btinternet.com
