BT Digital Voice – Retired Members

Dear Retired Member,

Please see below this recent information from the AGE NI newsletter about BT’s Digital Voice rollout and how this might affect you:

Digital Voice – What you need to know

BT have been in touch with us to ask us to share important information about their digital switchover for home phone lines here. Primarily they want to reassure customers about this process, they understand how important it is to keep connected, and they are running a public information campaign across NI to keep everyone informed.

Digital Voice is a new home phone service powered by broadband. The current analogue network that most home phones work on today is no longer fit for purpose, so the outdated network will be switched off for all phone providers by 2025.

BT is starting the rollout of Digital Voice this summer, and for most customers the change will be as simple as connecting your home phone handset to your broadband router.

BT will have a series of pop-up events and townhall meetings across Northern Ireland, find one near you at the link below.

Pop Up Events

BT is providing additional support to older and vulnerable customers in this process and will NOT automatically switch over customers:

• with a healthcare pendant 19personal alarm)
• who are over 70
• who only use landlines
• with no mobile signal
• who have disclosed any additional needs

If these customers want to make the switch to Digital Voice, they can contact BT at any time to do so.
